1918 in New Iberia, Louisiana, Adam Estilette & Jacob Frank partner up to create a hot sauce perfectly spiced with a rich blend of cayenne peppers and finally bottle the first ever Frank’s RedHot in 1920. Which, according to Wikipedia goes a bit differently: Frank’s RedHot’s recipe dates to 1896 to the Frank Tea and Spice Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1917, owner Jacob Frank contracted for the Estilette Pepper Farm in Louisiana where Adam Estilette and Frank became business partners. The two men mixed spices, vinegar, garlic and cayenne peppers and allowed them to age, thus creating the original blend of Frank’s RedHot as it first appeared on the market in 1920.

It became famous as the primary ingredient in the first Buffalo wing sauce, developed in 1964 by Teressa Bellissimo at the Anchor Bar and Grill in Buffalo, New York. It is also used in Wish-Bone’s Buffalo Ranch dressing.

Yeah startups take a lot longer than you thought. Really, that’s a long time to get the right mix of FIVE ingredients into a jar. But fine, I love it, take all the time you need. Also, why does so much hot sauce come from Louisiana? Not that Frank’s is made there, but the peppers and formulation happened there.

Frank’s RedHot Ingredients:

  • Aged Cayenne Red Peppers
  • Distilled Vinegar
  • Water
  • Salt
  • Garlic Powder.

Any conscious person would see “Nutritious” as something that you can survive on eating. Personally I can’t survive on awesome flavor and salt. 💁‍♂️But I guess Jean Hamilton uses it on everything. lol.
