Tapatío is a hot sauce, produced in Vernon, California. It is popular across the United States. “Tapatío” is the name given to people from Guadalajara, Jalisco: the company’s founders come from Guadalajara. It is exported to Mexico, Canada, Central America, Australia, and elsewhere. It’s also one of my favorite “hot” sauces since it’s not to hot and hot me started into loving the flavor of all kinds of different hot sauces.
Tapatio Hot Sauce entered the business world in 1971, when Mr. Jose-Luis Saavedra, Sr. started his company. As with most great products, Tapatio’s beginnings were very modest. Still working a daytime job to supplement his income in order to cover business expenses, Mr. Saavedra leased a 750 square foot building located in the city of Maywood, CA.
